Using The 17 FREE Anamorphic Lens Flares
The great thing about lens flare overlays is that they are compatible with any nonlinear editing or compositing software that includes blend mode options (every editing program should include some version of this). However, we created them mostly with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Final Cut Pro in mind.
How to use the lens flares in Premiere
- Import the lens flare folder, or the lens flare of your choice, into your project.
- After laying the footage to which you’d like to add the lens flare on top of your timeline, drag your lens flare of choice to the video layer above the main video layer.
- Click on the “Effect Controls” tab, and in the opacity area of the effect controls tab, you’ll see blending mode options. Here, you’re free to use whichever one you like best, but for a more natural-looking lens flare, you’ll want to use “Screen.”
- If you’d like to add more punch to the lens flare (brighten it up), you can try the “Linear Dodge” (Add) blend mode.
- You may want to change colors or customize the brightness or contrast of the lens flare. To do this, use the Lumetri Color effect. Here, you can change the color of the flare or customize the contrast using the curves dropdown. Some lens flares need a little bit more contrast for certain scenes.
How to use the lens flares in After Effects
- Import your folder of flares.
- In the composition to which you want to add flares, drag your flare of choice down into the composition.
- Now, you can select the blend mode of choice for your particular scene or design. I recommend “Add” or “Screen” mode. Sometimes overlay or hard light can yield an interesting result.
- If you’d like to customize the color or contrast of your lens flare, I recommend using a curves effect to play with the contrast, and if you’d like to change the color, I recommend the hue/saturation effect. You can find both of these in the color correction section of the effects dropdown.
How to use the lens flares in Final Cut Pro
- It’s very easy to use these flares in Final Cut. First, import your folder of flares or the specific one you want into your project.
- Lay the lens flare you like onto the video layer above the main video to which you’d like to add the flare.
- In the top right, there is a compositing options tab. Here, you can select your overlay mode from the dropdown.
- “Screen” or “Add” are going to be the best blending mode options for most situations. Feel free to experiment.
- If you’d like to change color or contrast, you’ll find various color correction tools in the effects panel.
What Are The Anamorphic Flares?
We captured these lens flares with Atlas Orion anamorphic lenses, and a Panasonic AU-EVA1.

Adds four new structures for removing unwanted fluids, gases and items:
- Flare Stack - destroys liquids and gases, with a giant flame and emitted light
- Gas Vent - vents liquids and gases without the light show
- Incinerator - uses fuel to destroy any non fuel item (and wood)
- Electric Incinerator - like the incinerator only using electric power, and can destroy any fuel item
Please note that burner incinerators won't destroy fuel items, with a specific exception made for wood. This is so the incinerator can be supplied with belted fuel without simply destroying all of it and ignoring other items.
As of Flare Stack 2.1.5 there is now a mod setting to control how many units of fluid are burned per second. Default is 10.
As of Flare Stack 2.1.0 for Factorio 0.15, the only difference between the flare stack and gas vent is cosmetic, they both destroy any fluid. Incinerators now only destroy solid items.
In 0.14, the flare/vent lists need to be manually defined. For more details and instructions on adding custom fluids to the Flare Stack or Gas Vent recipe lists, see the forums thread.
